Program Overview
Calling all aspiring photographers! This trip is the perfect opportunity to gain new skills while getting to know the cultural treasure trove of Greece. Travelers will be instructed through photography workshops and complete photo challenges to begin to build their portfolio. Greece is the perfect place to gain inspiration, with its ancient monuments and natural beauty.
Whether you’re a beginner or experienced photographer, this trip is for you! We will teach travelers according to their experience level and concentrate on essential photography skills such as shooting landscapes, slow exposure, urban scenes, and low-light conditions. We will also cover all of the photography basics such as ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.
While we are building our portfolio, take an in-depth tour of Athens with a local guide and see its many wonders, both ancient and modern. Taste delicious Greek food prepared by experienced cooks for a sampling of truly inspired Greek cuisine.
Journey beyond the present day capital city of Athens to discover the “true Greece” in the hands of our local team. It might be a small nation, but Greece is a goldmine where there’s hardly a turn you can make without running into another scenic vista to behold. Experience Greek life in small towns and cities while visiting the Archaeological Site of Delphi and the Temple of Poseidon. No trip to Greece is complete without setting sail to the Greek Islands. Together we will travel by ferry to the famous blue and white island oasis of Santorini where we will enjoy Greek barbeque, days by the Mediterranean sea, and sunsets from our family owned hotel. Cruise on over to Syros, the capital of the famous Cyclades islands, long known for its vibrant spirit and enchanting seaside cities.

PROGRAM ITINERARY
THIS ITINERARY IS AN APPROXIMATION OF THE OVERALL PROGRAM EXPERIENCE. THE ORDER OF ACTIVITIES ON YOUR TRIP MAY CHANGE.
IF A PARTICULAR SCHEDULED EXPERIENCE IS CANCELED, WE MAY REPLACE IT WITH AN ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITY.
Day 1: Arrival Day
Welcome to Athens!
Our Teen Travel Network Trip Leaders will meet you in the Athens airport arrivals terminal wearing their TTN t-shirts.
We will spend this first day settling into our accommodation and building connections with fellow travelers. Before we sleep off our jetlag, we will enjoy a local welcome dinner.
Day 2: Athens
Follow our local trip leaders back in time to where Western Civilization was born: Athens, Greece. Have your camera at the ready for all of the amazing sights we’ll see!
Soak up the history that is embedded into the fabric of daily life while admiring the modern culture that thrives along the cafe lined streets. Climb the Acropolis, explore the Parthenon, and get the perfect shot of one of the most famous ancient archaeological sites in the world. Enjoy an afternoon tour of the historic center and follow your senses down narrow cobblestone streets and into locally owned shops, artist studios and traditional bakeries. Get cozy whipping up your own Greek cuisine through a hands-on cooking experience, complete with a trip to a bustling local food market to shop for ingredients that you will use to prepare your meal.
The spirit and culture of Athens is like no other city, you are sure to feel like an old friend being welcomed home when we return towards the end of our trip together!
Day 3: Delphi
Our adventure into Greek mythology and history continues with a day spent in Delphi. The famous UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site is known for its incredible landscape and charged sacred meaning.
We’ll take a hike through the picturesque Delphi hills, the perfect location to practice some landscape photography. The winding olive groves and rocky outcroppings will lead us to our final destination: a local olive farm, ready to greet us with yet another filling Greek meal and local knowledge of the area and traditions. There is no doubt that as we head south for the coastal town of Itea, we will be left curious about the abundant mystery and beauty of Delphi.
Day 4: Kalavryta
All aboard! It’s time to take the train through the gorgeous Vouraikos Gorge as we make our way to the unique Greek town of Kalavryta.
We’ll take the scenic Odontotos railway, which will get us off the tourist track and give us a one-of-a-kind travel experience. The train ride will take us along the very edge of the gorge and provide us some spectacular views along the way! The train ride is also the perfect time to share photos and tips with friends as we continue to curate our portfolios.
Upon arrival, we’ll learn more about the monastery of Agia Lavra, which was originally built in 961 AD, but rebuilt several times throughout history.
Days 5-6: Nafplio
We’ll continue our journey with a stop at the coastal city of Nafplio, Greece’s first capital city and the perfect location for a photography scavenger hunt. This is a great way to see the beautiful old town center of this historically rich city and practice taking different types of photographs.
Kayaks will take us from a nearby beach to the middle of Vatika Bay. Once we have paddled out, we can explore Epidaurus, “the sunken city”, which is well-preserved and clearly visible in the clear waters of the bay.
Paddle above the remains and enjoy breathtaking views of the lush Methana Volcano in the distance as you imagine what life may have been like for the city’s original inhabitants thousands of years ago.
Days 7-8: Santorini
Getting acquainted with island life awaits us. Kick off your visit in Santorini with a locally led tour that will help showcase what makes Santorini one of the most world known Greek Isles.
Explore villages that look like they were plucked right from the pages of history, ascend the jaw-dropping caldera, and meet local shopkeepers selling local products and handmade souvenirs. Get a taste of true Greek cuisine as we indulge in traditional Greek barbecue and a mouthwatering array of other authentic dishes from local restaurants.
Set sail on a private cruise through the mystical caldera, dive into crystal clear coves, and make memories that will last a lifetime. while watching the sunset over the Mediterranean. And of course, we’ll make sure to get while we search for the perfect Mediterranean sunset shot for your our portfolios.
Days 9-11: Syros
It’s time to explore to Syros, a true hidden gem of the Greek Islands!
Leave the ordinary behind and dive headfirst into a paradise that’s been kept secret by the locals for generations. As we disembark our ferry, we will transport – as if by time machine – into the past. Imagine strolling down streets made of shimmering marble, each step echoing with the whispers of a rich and storied past, each unique neighborhood like pages from a fairy tale. These historic streets will make the perfect backdrop as we practice portrait photography.
Ascend to new heights as we maneuver through the majestic streets of Alithini village. Perched high above the harbor, this picturesque village offers views that will make you feel like you are on top of the world. As the day heats up, we will hit up the warm waters and relax on a local beach!
Day 12: Athens
On this epic final day, get ready to dive into a world of magic, history, and healing, as we bid farewell to Athens in the most unforgettable way possible. Our day kicks off with a splash of rejuvenation at the mesmerizing Lake Vouliagmeni. Swim and soak in the warm embrace of a thermal saltwater lake, a natural wonder with a reputation for healing properties that’s been whispered through the ages. As we bask in the soothing waters, feel your worries melt away, and your spirits soar as if touched by ancient Greek gods themselves. It’s a morning of indulgence and renewal, a last hurrah that will leave you feeling utterly revitalized and ready to take on the world!
Embark on a journey to the very heart of ancient Greek mythology, the Temple of Poseidon, a marvel crafted from flawless white marble. This architectural masterpiece stands proudly at the southern tip of Attica, a tribute to the mighty Poseidon, ruler of the seas. And as the sun begins its breathtaking descent into the horizon, you’ll witness a spectacle like no other – a canvas of blues, reds, and oranges that engulf the temple. It’s a moment frozen in time, where history, nature, and the divine converge in a symphony of color and wonder.
Then comes the grand finale, a feast fit for legends. Time to celebrate our time together and reminisce about the incredible journey we’ve shared – the sights, the sounds, the tastes, and the lessons that have enriched our hearts and minds during this unique experience while we share a meal at a local traditional Greek restaurant. Finalize your photography portfolio, the perfect way to always remember the times we shared and get to share your experience with friends and family back home!
Day 13: Departure Day
Before we know it, our Greek adventure has come to an end. Head to the airport with incredible memories, new friends, and confidence that will benefit you for life!
TTN Trip Leaders will accompany travelers to the airport and check them in for their flights home.
As you settle into your seat for the journey home, reflect on the things you saw, the people you met, and places you went. We’ll see you on your next adventure! Welcome to the Network!
