Discover the richness of the Spanish language and culture in the magnificent country of Spain!
Delve into Spanish history at the ancient city of Salamanca. Attend morning classes in the vibrant atmosphere of the University of Salamanca, one of Europe’s oldest universities. Immerse yourself in the local lifestyle, exploring architectural marvels and experiencing the city’s captivating charm. Engage and practice your language skills in thrilling activities such as exploring the town by bike and soccer games, and master the art of Spanish cuisine!
Embark on exciting trips to the lively cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Admire Spanish art at the renowned Prado Museum, experience regal elegance at the Royal Palace, and stroll through the lush Retiro Park, conversing with locals in their native tongue. In Barcelona, brace yourself for an intriguing ghost tour through the Gothic Quarter, savor the flavors of local markets, and unwind on the picturesque beaches.

PROGRAM ITINERARY
THIS ITINERARY IS AN APPROXIMATION OF THE OVERALL PROGRAM EXPERIENCE. THE ORDER OF ACTIVITIES ON YOUR TRIP MAY CHANGE.
IF A PARTICULAR SCHEDULED EXPERIENCE IS CANCELED, WE MAY REPLACE IT WITH AN ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITY.
Day 1: Arrival Day
Welcome to Spain!
Our TTN Trip Leaders will meet you in the Madrid airport arrivals terminal wearing their TTN t-shirts.
We will spend this first day settling into our accomodation and building connections with fellow travelers.
Before we sleep off our jetlag, we will enjoy a welcome dinner and learn a bit about our interests and what we’re looking forward to on our trip!
Days 2 - 7: Living Local in Salamanca
After resting for the night in Madrid, we waste no time driving through the vast beauty of Spain’s western region as we make our way to the ancient university city of Salamanca. The history of this Spanish city is rich and welcoming and is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe – The University of Salamanca. There’s no better place to study and learn the Spanish language!
Upon arrival, we’ll take our welcome exam to determine which class level we belong to and be placed into classes with our peers. Each morning we will meet Spanish teachers at our school and begin exploring conversational and written Spanish lessons. After a hearty Spanish lunch and an afternoon siesta, we’ll explore the wonders that Salamanca has to offer!
Afternoon activities could include hiking through the mountainous terrain to watch a sunset, horseback riding on trails, tasting chocolate con churros and other tapas, or simply enjoying an evening in the park with your new friends and locals. These activities are meant to polish our conversation skills in everyday life by immersing ourselves in to the local community – not only will we learn in a classroom, but also in the real world!
Days 8 - 9: Madrid
After our first week of classes and adventures, our group will pack up and journey to Spain’s capital city, Madrid, the city to discover famous artwork, domineering archetecture, lively locals, and rich culture around every turn.
Meander the ornate hallways of the Royal Palace of Madrid and imagine yourself staying in one the 3,418 rooms in this massive palace! Our group will learn about the long history behind the controversial sport of bullfighting when we take a private through Las Ventas, one of the most famous bullrings in Spain. Known for quick footwork and intense movements, we’ll quickly understand why the art of flamenco dancing is famous for it’s passionate and emotional dance moves. We’ll get the chance to enjoy dinner and a show – and try out dancing for ourselves!
Days 10 - 12: Salamanca -> Barcelona
After an enchanting weekend exploring Madrid, we return back home to Salamanca. This week will focus on putting our Spanish lessons to the test by practicing with locals in the city! Meet up with other students and practice all that you have learned over the past 12 days.
We’ll enjoy a special farewell activity and an enormous goodbye lunch before bidding farewell to our teachers and new friends as we head to the magical city of Barcelona!
Days 13 - 14: Barcelona
The artsy, vibrant city of Barcelona has become one of the most visited cities in Spain in recent years! Our local trip leader will lead us around the city to visit off-the-beaten-path locations, including a visit to one of the best views in the city (not yet touched by crowds of tourists)!
As we explore the cobblestones of this iconic city we will make our way to see the famous architectural wonder of the Sagrada Familia, which has been under construction for over 100 years. We’ll be able to recognize the famous archetectural style of colorful mosaic tile when we visit other works by Gaudí, like Park Güell and Casa Batlló. We’ll continue using our Spanish lessons when we take a walking tour through Las Ramblas – entirely in Spanish!
When the sun sets, our group will head out into the Gothic Quarter’s meandering cobblestone streets as we partake in a ghost tour, complete with spooky stories and an insider’s look at the dark history of this iconic neighborhood in Barcelona. Visit the famous beaches of Barcelona and get a taste of the salty air and see why Spaniards flock to this coastal city!
Day 15: Departure Day
Before we know it, our Spanish adventure has come to an end. Head to the airport with incredible memories, new friends, and confidence that will benefit you for life!
TTN Trip Leaders will accompany travelers to the airport and check them in for their flights home.
As you settle into your seat for the journey home, reflect on the things you saw, the people you met, and places you went. We’ll see you on your next adventure! Welcome to the Network!
