BLOG POST FOR JULY 9

Yamas from Greece!

The TTN Greek Island Hopping trip has officially kicked off! We’re expecting our sixth student Anna tomorrow as her flight got cancelled, and I know the rest of group is excited to meet her.

Today we’ve already shared a delicious Greek feast for lunch on our hotel rooftop overlooking all of Athens and the Acropolis. We took time to get to know each other and learn all about the beauty spots, delicious new food and cultural exchanges we’re about to have.

Tomorrow we have our day in Greece’s capital, Athens, before sailing off to those idyllic islands in the Aegean sea. Pristine beaches, quaint towns and seascapes await us.

We’re all sure we will end the trip shimmering and shiny new versions of ourselves.

Πολλές ευχές από την Ελλάδα (Best wishes)

BLOG POST FOR JULY 10

Hi friends and family. We are all very excited to be in Athens and we are excited to meet our final member of the group, Anna Pearl. Today started out with breakfast and orientation from our staff. Then we took a bike ride around Athens to see various monuments. Even though it was very hot, the guide was helpful and we took a lot of rest. Lunch was delicious, which consisted of Greek salad, some meats and a yogurt with honey dessert. Our last activity was a tour of the Acropolis and it was amazing. With every step there was so much history. Dinner was at the hotel but we quickly packed our things because we took an overnight ferry to Crete! Some of us have never been on a ship this big. Goodnight!

BLOG POST FOR JULY 12

Good morning from Crete! Our overnight ferry was fun and today we started off walking around the town of Rethymno. Last night we had the opportunity to experience a really cooI Greek dinner where we got to dance and see traditional dancing. The next day we had some shopping time where we bought some souvenirs. Afterwards we got in the van to start our drive to the town of Zaros, Greece. On the way we stopped at a nice local restaurant to enjoy lunch and then made another stop later on to see the ports by the sea. We also saw natural springs and enjoyed some cold, fresh water from local fountains. Once we got to Zaros, we had some relaxing pool time and got ready for dinner. After dinner we went to a playground right next to the restaurant and got our energy out. Later that night we sat under the stars and did a group activity called Social Media Sync. We learned about how social media can influence our choices and we had a great conversation about how to unplug. We are ready for bed after a long day of travel. Good night everyone!

BLOG POST FOR JULY 14

Kalimera! We woke up around 7am and had a full Greek breakfast at one of the nicest hotels on trip called Hotel Idis. Breakfast consisted of breads, salads, egg and coffee. The best part was the fresh orange juice. We then went on a little road trip to lake Zaros and took some photos. After that we went to a family owned farm where we made our own bread. At the farm there was also livestock like pigs, goats, chickens and etc, which was cool to see what types of animals they have compared to the states. After the farm we drove to the capital of Crete, Heraklion where we explored the town and did a walking tour. Everywhere was a perfect place for pictures! Later in the day we went to a local restaurant where we had a traditional Greek dinner and we saw local dances. It was a fun day. Off to Santorini tomorrow!

Students have all departed from Athens airport and are headed home or to their next summer destinations.

We arrived back in Athens yesterday after visiting Crete, Santorini, Amorgos and Naxos – wow! We saw and experienced a lot together in the idyllic Greek islands.

Each one takes with them memories of the warm Greek hospitality, delicious food, ancient culture, crystal clear waters, pristine islands and seascapes.

“Efaristoume” to all the students for joining us on our Greek Island Hopping adventure!

Best wishes for your onward journies,
